UDON Mastering

Congratulations! You’ve arrived at the last step before releasing your music to the world.

Our job is to take your final mixes and prepare them to be submitted for release in the right formats while adding a bit of sparkle in there too.

We aim to have a turnaround time of 2 weeks max but if you’re in a rush, let us know and we’ll do our best to accomodate.

Please be sure to pay your bill on tine. Otherwise the masters still belong to us and there’s no reason for that.

Below are some guidelines on how to kick this process off.

— Delivery Format —

Please send files using basic file transferring services such as Dropbox and Google Drive. Email might be fine for a single track but it’s less reliable.

Minimum of 16bit 44.1k WAV files. Ideally 24bit 48k and above. Anything more than 24bit and 96k is overkill.

Lossy or encoded files will not be accepted eg. MP3, M4A etc.

Leave a healthy amount of headroom (peaking between -6 and -3 dBFS). Should not ever clip above 0dBTP.

Ideally have nothing on the master buss but you’re welcome to leave your favourite plugin on there for tonal purposes. Any processing that applies compression makes it harder for us to make it sound good.

— Other Information —

If a DDP image is required (for CD production) let me know and I’ll send you a spreadsheet to fill in. ISRC codes are your responsibility and can be obtained here: https://www.recordedmusic.co.nz/portfolio/isrc/

If you’ve got any reference tracks you’d like the tone of your track to sound, like send them through (couple of tracks are enough).

It is important for us to understand what the artist, producer and A&R were listening to in the mix approval process. Please include any versions used for mix approval that are different than the mixes submitted for mastering.

We are an approved Apple Digital Masters Provider. Make sure you let your distributor/aggregator know that and you can get the pretty badge in Apple Music.

You can get in touch with me by email richard@udonco.net or filling in the contact form.
